A recipe for Thanksgiving dinner design

Since moving into a home more suited for large-scale entertaining, I've taken over the Thanksgiving responsibilities for my mom's side of the family. While I don't cook, I do pride myself in serving up a mean dinner table design. I love pulling all of my supplies together to create a visually appealing tablescape, and enjoy picking up new odds and ends, ensuring guests can expect to find a different twist on decor from year to year.

When purchasing entertaining products, I tend to gravitate toward items that aren't occasion specific - ones I can continue to use time and time again. I thought I would share my go-to recipe for creating a well-rounded dinner display. Here's what you need to know:

A Quick and Easy Fall Gift

My favorite time of the year is full of the most fun and festive goodies. Once the stores start putting out all of the fall decor and home accents, I can't help myself. I want all of it! So instead of buying it all for myself, I decided to spoil my friends. I put together two of these gift baskets for my besties who both have September birthdays.

It all started with this wooden, polka dot crate. I saw it on the shelf in Target yelling, or better yet, screaming my name. It's so Simply Sarah Style. I had to have it...uh, had to have it for my friends, that is.

A fall craft in 5 minutes flat

This weekend, I stopped in Michael's and couldn't pass up the white artificial pumpkins I've seen all over blogland. With a price tag that was 60% off, they were beckoning me.

I also spotted a collection of Halloween embellishments in the scrapbook section. This collection was on sale too, so I scored each set for 40% off. Hard to believe that large rhinestone "P" was only $1.19!

Within seconds, my large pumpkin was complete. The "P" was set on one sheet of adhesive, so it was easy to transfer. The medium pumpkin took a few more minutes to finish as each rhinestone was separate sticky. 

I am thrilled with the final product! As you know, I love gorgeous spaces, but hate complex DIY projects. That's why this one was right up my alley! 

Bonus: I can store these away and pull them out year after year. For under $30, I have a fall set I can use again.

Styling A Thanksgiving Tabletop

Let's talk Thanksgiving. While I love hosting, I don't love cooking. My mom promised she would cook the turkey if I offered to host. So then, the deal was done. I'll decorate and create one heck of a tablescape and my mom will cook the big bird.

We have enough space in our new house, but there's a small problem...we don't own a dining room table yet. Yikes...yeah, small problem. So I decided I'm decking out card tables. That will have to do for the time being. I'm vowing to myself that they will be the most beautifully decorated card tables. Yes, that will have to do this year.

So, I've been scheming. I'm using the H&M Home black and white tablecloths I purchased for our housewarming party. Combine the black and white gingham with some neutral and orange accents, and I think I'll be golden. ;)
