Celebrating 5 years of blogging with gifts and giveaways: Day 5

Decorating through e-design is the most popular service I offer through Simply Sarah Style. For the final day of my five days of giveaways, I'll be giving away an interior decorating consultation package to one lucky reader!

People often ask me how e-design works, so I thought I would share an overview...

I start each project with an in-take phone call and questionnaire. Based on our discussion, I'll provide you with a digital mood board outlining a look and feel for your space. Additionally, I'll provide you with access to a shared Pinterest board where I pin variations of the suggested items for you to purchase. You can follow the Pinterest links to purchase the items directly, so you'll have all the pieces needed to create your desired look. With this option, I take the guesswork out of the design process while making assistance affordable.

Many times, Simply Sarah Style clients continue beyond the design boards having me shop for and style their spaces. This enhanced service is provided at an additional rate.

I thought you might like to see some examples of projects I've completed this year.

A Sunroom/Reading Nook

The design boards below were created for an empty sunroom space that functioned as an extension of the eat-in kitchen and a small bar area. This room featured hardwood floors and was surrounded by windows.

Working with the client, we decided to create a space that would be suitable for entertaining as well as lounging in the sun and catching up on some reading. Here's what I pulled together to reflect her desired color scheme of orange, green and neutrals:

When necessary, I can also provide a suggested layout for your space like I did for this client.

Studio Project

I had the pleasure of working with Lindsay from One Fine Day, a vintage furniture rental company in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. I helped Lindsay determine furnishings and layouts for a two-room space that would serve as a rental venue and her office.

The furnishings below were suggestions for the front rental room. Since Lindsay has a large inventory of vintage furniture, many of the items below would be replaced with similar objects from her collection.

And a suggested layout..

The second board provides inspiration for her office/consultation space. You'll see that I incorporated a dresser Lindsay already owned.

Patio Project

This patio project was so much fun as I love to entertain and believe in creating a space that makes having people over easy! The client already had a few pieces in mind like the fire pit, chairs and dining table. She also already owned a love seat glider and coffee table we planned to incorporate.

Isn't that teal heater dreamy? I couldn't pass it up! I had to include it. I'm also majorly crushing on that bench. What beautiful lines!

I also included ways she could dress up the patio door making it shine just as much as the other areas.

Lastly, I suggested a layout that incorporated the concrete pad and the couple's desired placement of the fire pit area.

Simply Sarah Style turns 5!

This month marks five years of Simply Sarah Style! I initially started this blog as a way to curate inspiring ideas and share my own projects. I ultimately wanted a outlet where I could catalog all things creative. My best friend urged me to give it a go, so I decided to start this online journal, and under her recommendation, named it "Simply Sarah Style." I'm not sure I would have imagined this little ol' blog would be chugging along five years later, but I'm happy that it is still full of life.

I giggle when I go back and read some of my first posts...and cringe when I look at my photography. (We can all get a good laugh out of it!)

Ultimately, blogging has become much more than simply typing up what first comes to mind. Blogging has opened up the doors to new friendships, a service line of Simply Sarah Style offerings and brand collaborations

As a way to thank you for hanging by side for so many years, I'm hosting five days of giveaways this week. Each day will hold a new surprise for you.

Cheers to five years!

An Etsy Shop: Cora & Plum

I'm excited to share a new line of handcrafted products I discovered last month at the Oakley Fancy Flea. When I spotted these Ohio plaques made out of reclaimed wood and crown molding, I knew I had to inquire about a Kentucky one.

While the shop owner didn't have one on hand, she had made them in the past, so I headed to her Etsy shop - Cora & Plum - to place my custom order.

In addition to setting my sights on a custom Kentucky piece, I fell in love with her pineapple plaque. After all, you can never have enough pineapple-themed things, especially when hospitality is your middle name! I snagged the piece below.

Kate, the owner, also sold me on the wooden chevron accent pieces. You can pick from Kate's full palette of paint colors to mix and match for a combination that's perfect for your home. (I love the kelly green and navy combination!) Be sure to check out the placement of the wooden chevron pieces in this kitchen (see photo 2 in the listing).

Ready for the debut of my piece? I selected a neutral palette to ensure my Kentucky guy looks good no matter what.

Love what you see? Be sure to check out Cora and Plum on Etsy. You can also find Cora and Plum at the City Flea and the Oakley Fancy Flea (the O.F.F. Market).

Please note this feature was not a sponsored post, just a brand I discovered and loved.
I thought you would enjoy it too!

An unexpected birthday surprise

This past Sunday, I woke up to the most lovely birthday surprise. Our wedding had been featured by Cincinnati Magazine! Since our wedding was over two years ago, I had forgotten about the submission of photos.

When I look back at the pictures, I can't help, but smile. Our awesome photographer Sherri Barber combined with a talented team of vendors truly made our day spectacular.

You can find the feature online here.

The best part? The Facebook teaser...

(True story. One bridesmaid went into labor after the ceremony.)

A special thanks to Cincinnati Magazine and Cincinnati Wedding Magazine for featuring our big day! It definitely made my birthday even more special.

One of my go-to girly gifts: Hand-painted bracelets by Stacy Brown Designs

Girls - I have to let you in one of my most beloved gift ideas. I am absolutely in love with these hand-painted monogrammed bracelets by Stacy Brown. They are are stunning! They're truly one-of-a-kind and make the perfect gift for birthday girls, brides and mommas of new babies.

I received my first Stacy Brown bracelet from my aunt shortly after I was married and was head over heels in love with the black and white striped design. (Get a sneak peak of my bracelet here.)

In fact, I love this concept so much that my friend and I went in together and ordered the set above for another friend who just turned 30 and welcomed baby #2. We selected the large wooden bracelet showcasing her initials (LD) and then the smaller bangle as a mommy bracelet featuring the names of her two children (Brooklyn and Weston).

And I didn't stop there...I ended up ordering another as a college graduation gift. See what I selected for this University of Cincinnati grad here

I promise this is one gift that will always be treasured.

Anyone else big Stacy Brown fans?

A Star Wars Party for Jedi Joey

I collaborated with my dear friend and colleague to craft an out-of-this-world Star Wars party for her two-year-old son, Joey. Last year, she went with a baseball theme for Joey. This year, he's all about Luke Skywalker and light sabers. (You might also remember the super hero party we planned for her twins.)

My friend selected an adorable and age-appropriate Star Wars invitation from Etsy, so I used this design as a jumping off point for the inspiration boards. Here's what I pulled together:
